Hello, I’m Ruben, a British English teacher and content creator from Devon, UK.
Before becoming an English teacher, I spent 17 years working as a chef in some of London’s top restaurants, in ski resorts in the French Alps, and on luxury mega-yachts around the world. My career at sea and love of adventure have taken me to more than 70 countries, including journeys across both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
Along the way, I’ve trekked to Everest Base Camp, lived for eight months in Tahiti, spent three winters in the Caribbean, studied traditional sushi in Tokyo with a master chef, and lived in Vietnam for almost two years. I’ve also travelled to places including the Galápagos Islands, Kashmir, the pyramids of Giza, Machu Picchu and Chichen Itza.
These experiences have shaped how I see the world and deepened my appreciation for language as a tool for connection.
Today, I combine my teaching experience with my passion for travel, languages and culture through English for Traveling. I help learners develop the confidence to communicate naturally in real-world situations, whether they’re travelling, working internationally or simply wanting to improve their English.
My goal is simple: to help you use English with greater confidence while discovering new places, cultures and perspectives.
